The Commission of the RAMOGE Agreement met on 22 January 2026 at the Ministry of State of Monaco, under Italian chairmanship, represented on this occasion by Ms Giusy Lombardi, Director of the Directorate-General for Climate, Energy and Air of the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE).
The delegations of the three States Parties reviewed in particular the assessment of activities carried out by the working groups as well as the progress of the RAMOGE–Pelagos cooperation, with the presence of the Executive Secretary of Pelagos Agreement, Maria BETTI.
A significant part of the discussions was devoted to the preparation of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the RAMOGE Agreement, scheduled throughout 2026. The exchanges made it possible to refine the timetable of events, identify the main institutional milestones, and define the key orientations of the actions to come.
The anniversary programme will include commemorative events, as well as large-scale scientific and operational missions. The Commission emphasised the importance of making this anniversary an opportunity both to highlight the results achieved since the creation of the Agreement and to strengthen future cooperation perspectives in support of the preservation of the Mediterranean.
