Since 2015, the RAMOGE Agreement has conducted exploration campaigns in deep-sea areas of ecological or biological interest, such as canyons and seamounts. The goal is to inventory the ecosystems of these little-known environments and promote appropriate management measures. Three campaigns have already taken place in 2015, 2018, and 2022. The reports of the first two are available on the RAMOGE website.
The presentation of the 2022 campaign report took place on Friday, June 7, 2024, in Genoa. Researchers and representatives from the three countries presented the main findings. Sites up to 500 meters deep were explored (2 in France, 2 in Italy, 1 in Monaco) using an ROV aboard the Italian ISPRA ship “Astrea.”
